Next up were old rivals Essex, which was always a tough one. Thomas had a fantastic game finally losing on the 18th hole, with holes being halved in birdie and pars it was a close, exciting game. Copeman and Booth won games leaving one more for the win over Essex. This was secured by Anderson and Mann securing a win on the 17th.
Day two saw an early start against home county Suffolk. With all the singles coming in with wins, Rutherford and Reeve then got another win for the team, with Anderson and Mann finishing on the 17th with another well-fought match, making it a 4-1 victory.
With the final match to be played, Norfolk just needed a win against Bedfordshire to bring home the trophy. After a delayed start due to the Bedfordshire morning game finishing late, Thomas and Copeman set off to a fantastic start with Thomas winning 7-5 and Copeman securing another with 5-4 win.
The team now just needed one more game to secure the trophy. Booth had a tough game, finally finished one down on the 18th, but with Rutherford and Reeve winning 3-2 and Hutchinson and Blake halving their match, the team had won 3.5 – 1.5 and secured the East Region trophy.
Gooch said: “This is a fantastic achievement from the Norfolk team, winning the trophy for the second time in three years and with all games being played in such great spirits, it was a joy to watch.
“Also, a massive thank you to Stowmarket Golf Club and their members for giving up the course for the four days while the competition was being held. The course was in fantastic condition, and the staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble for them.”
